Dr Sarah Ahmed

Dr. Sarah Ahmed is a microbiologist recognized for her expertise in molecular medical mycology. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University. Her academic journey has included positions at several institutions, including the University of Khartoum (Sudan), RadboudUMC/CWZ Center of Expertise for Mycology (The Netherlands), and the Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute (The Netherlands). Dr. Ahmed’s research focuses on the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of fungal infections. She has made notable contributions to fungal taxonomy, having described over ten novel clinically relevant species. Her academic output includes more than 80 peer-reviewed publications/book chapters.
