Dr Pei Yee Tiew

Singapore General Hospital, Singapore

Dr Tiew is a Senior Consultant at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. She leads the COPD Clinic and Smoking Cessation Services at SGH, with a strong focus on enhancing patient care and clinical outcomes.

Her key areas of interest include chronic lung diseases, particularly COPD and severe asthma. Her research primarily focuses on microbiome, fungi, allergy and early disease (COPD) development, culminating in several first-author publications in top-tier journals. Through this work, she aims to advance the understanding of COPD and other airway diseases such as asthma and bronchiectasis, especially in the unique Asian context, addressing significant clinical and research gaps.

She has been awarded multiple competitive grants to support her research endeavours, including the NMRC Research Training Fellowship, the NMRC Transition Awards, and funding as one of the Theme Principal Investigator for an NMRC Large Collaborative Grant under The Academic Respiratory initiative for Pulmonary Health (TARIPH), Nanyang Technological University. These grants underscore her dedication to advancing respiratory medicine and highlight her commitment to driving impactful and innovative research initiatives.
